Blue Ridge Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic Relocates

Improved Facility Offers Expanded Services to Better Serve Community

SPRUCE PINE, N.C. - The Blue Ridge Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic is now operating at a new facility with improved technology and expanded services to better serve the Spruce Pine community. The clinic is located at 11728 South 226 Highway.

“Blue Ridge Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic represents the new standard for our facilities and how we intend to provide a healing environment for our patients, their families and our fellow employees,” said Oscar K. Weinmeister III, FACHE, President and CEO of Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. “The facility is incredible. It allows us not only to see more patients, but also to expand the range of services we offer and truly improve the way we deliver care to the people of Spruce Pine.”

The new Blue Ridge Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic features an improved X-ray system. This Picture Archiving and Communication System, known as PACS, allows X-rays and other diagnostic images to be captured, distributed and stored in a digital format viewable on computer screens at the clinic and at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. Additional services provided by physicians at the clinic will now include providing an athletic trainer at the McDowell County middle schools, medical assessment and injury care at local recreational events and an expanded bracing program that includes on-site, custom fitting.

“We took careful consideration when deciding to move the clinic. Our decision largely hinged on the ability to install the PACS system at the new location. This technology is a valuable tool that allows our physicians to do their job more efficiently than before,” Teresa Musick, MPA, MSA, PA-C, Practice Manager and Director of Sports Medicine, said. “We are pleased to be able to provide our patients with a state-of-the-art facility and the technology to provide world-class care right here in western North Carolina.”

Physicians at the clinic include David Van De Wyngaerde, MD, and Marvin Vice, DO. Blue Ridge Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic provides a full range of medical treatment and surgical procedures, from diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, CT scans or MRIs, to open surgery and minimally invasive procedures. Surgeries at the clinic include arthroscopy, total joint replacements of the hip and knee, fracture repair, hand surgery, foot and ankle surgery, rotator cuff repair, meniscus repair and ligament reconstruction.
