Board certified physicians specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal problems are members of the medical staff at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. These specialists offer care to anyone over the age of 18 experiencing issues with their upper gastrointestinal tract, small intestine, colon, rectum and liver. Specialized procedures to properly diagnose and treat some digestive conditions may be performed in the Surgery Department at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital, where appropriate, including:
- Colonoscopy – to view the lower GI tract for polyps, precancerous or cancerous growths
- Endoscopy – to view the upper GI tract for ulcers, abnormal growths, inflammation or obstruction
